Well, this is what we have learned during the quarantine. Predicting the future doesn’t work.
Everything changes every day!
We wanted to reopen our studio doors by June 1st, however we feel that it is not prudent or safe to reopen just yet.
DO NOT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU! Please know that we are not sitting still on this. As a staff, we are continuing to figure out the best way to operate in our unique teaching environment.
Online lessons are working. The education is still excellent, but we miss playing music together, face to face.
(Though I think we could all agree it's pretty fun to take lessons in your pajamas!)
Many of you are anxious to get back into the building while many of you want to stay online. We plan to accommodate both. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to piece together this unusual puzzle.
We appreciate your patience. Celebrating the joy of music is always our number one goal, but the safety and well being of our staff and all of you is and...
Just a quick update on our plans to reopen the studios (Yeah!) First let me say how much we all miss seeing you. We miss playing music together live and in person! But I am happy that we still see each other via Zoom and that we are working hard to beat this crazy virus and stay safe and healthy.
The state of Indiana is starting to slowly reopen businesses starting May 11th. However, we feel our best time to reopen HGS Music will be June 1, 2020. We will remain online through May.
This gives us time to see how things are going and make the appropriate adjustments to how we'll do lessons back inside the building. It will be different.
We are going to do this as best we can with our top priority being everyone’s health and safety. There will most likely be masks, social distancing, some restrictions about how many people are in the building and so on. We will continue to gauge both your and our staff's comfort on re-entering the building, and...
So, welcome to crazytown where all of our lives have been turned upside down, there is nowhere to go, and the hardest thing to find is toilet paper. Yikes!
Seriously, all of us at HGS Music hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy, and weathering this storm. We are missing all of you as well as each other.
To our currently enrolled students:
We have not been idle and that is why I am writing this letter. We have been in virtual meetings the last couple of days and have decided to move our lessons to an online video format until we can safely return to our studios. The teachers have expressed a real interest in this and there are so many good ideas out there that I am kind of excited about where this can go. I am sure that this will work and we can resume seeing each other for our weekly music lessons.
This week we will be refining how to apply online video technology to our lesson plan, and then begin reaching out to all of you to discuss the best way forward. Hopefull...
Effective immediately, HGS Music (Highland and Crown Point) is going to suspend all lessons for the next two weeks. We plan on reopening on Monday, March 30.
Jodi and I have been monitoring the situation closely and as things are changing so quickly, we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to take this action. We love sharing the joy of music with all of our friends and although we are always vigilant about keeping our buildings and rooms clean, we do work in close quarters and suspending lessons is the best way to protect everyone in this unprecedented situation.
We are going to suspend our normal makeup policy during this time and are planning to make up the two lessons missed. We will use the rest of the year to do so. EVERYONE will get makeup lessons.
We so appreciate your understanding and support during this very trying time. This is a very fluid situation and if anything changes, we will let everyone know. In the meantime, please be careful and stay safe. Remember, the...
