Do you teach in a classroom setting or one-on-one?
HGS Music offers private, one on one lessons in the following instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, Violin, Voice, Mandolin & Ukulele! This allows us to specifically tailor each lesson to the student's goals and learning style.
Do you offer any kind of group classes?
Yes! We offer a variety of specialized group classes, and we’re always coming up with new ideas! Here are the group classes we currently offer at HGS Music:
Rock & Roll for the Tiny Soul – this toddler music class is designed for ages 1-4 years old to be taken with a parent/grandparent/guardian/etc. Over 6 weeks, class activities include singing and dancing, number learning, rhythm learning, instrument play, parachute play, bubbles and SO MUCH MORE! Rock Band - Rock band classes are music lessons that simulate being in an actual rock band. This means you will be rocking out, learning your favorite songs with other fellow HGS Music students, in a group setting- essential for any musician looking to take things to the stage. This class is eight weeks with a live concert at the end!
HGS Adult Chorus - This class is designed for anyone and everyone 18 years and older who loves to sing. No prior experience necessary. Join us in a low pressure, relaxed, fun environment and sing everything from Motown to Pop to Broadway. Unleash your inner rockstar with this PERFECT group chorus! Call for specific dates.
What kind of instruments can I learn how to play?
We offer a wide variety of music lessons. Depending on your personal preference, you can learn how to play the Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Violin, Piano, Ukulele, and learn to sing! Want to learn it all, so you can be a one-man-band? No problem! Want to start a family band? Even better! We’re here to teach music of all kinds to all ages!
Do you offer singing lessons / voice / vocal training?
Absolutely! You want to learn how to sing? Our vocal coaches will get you started the correct way, teaching you the proper techniques to be a healthy singer! Already know how to sing? We can help you fine-tune your abilities and take you to the next level!
I live in another town, can I still come to HGS Music?
Of course you can! We have students from all over Northwest Indiana, including: Griffith, Hammond, Highland, Munster, Dyer, Merrillville, Schererville, St. John, Crown Point, Winfield, and other nearby areas.
How long has HGS Music been offering music lessons?
HGS Music has been open for nearly 20 years. We started out in Highland, and have since opened another location in Crown Point. We are dedicated to music, the love of playing, teaching, and learning new techniques- all of which we pass on to our students.
What is Rock & Roll for the Tiny Soul?
Rock & Roll for the tiny soul are music classes specifically designed for infants and toddlers. The classes have a big emphasis on fun, and of course, music! If you'd like to learn more, please visit our Rock and Roll for the Tiny Soul page.
